Is bluegrass hip all over again? If you look at the today’s pop-music landscape, apparently so. In Radio.com’s Inside Out video, Ricky Skaggs, Chris Stapleton and others talk about the influence of bluegrass — and the “O Brother Where Art Thou?” soundtrack — on modern music.
“It was something that everybody can connect with,” he told Radio.com, “because so many people out there have lost somebody.”
Chris Stapleton is the songwriter behind many hit singles you’ve heard before. Now he’s stepping out on his own with “What Are You Listening To.”
Petty recently called current country music “bad rock with a fiddle.” Country songwriting vet Stapleton challenges the rock superstar to ‘put [his] money where [his] mouth is in a tangible way.’
Tom Petty has a beef with country music. Or, at least, the current state of country, if comments he made to Rolling Stone this week are any indication.
Country music festivals continue to sprout up all across the country. One of the newest is Faster Horses, a three-day festival that took place this past weekend (July 19-21) on the grounds of the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Mich.
