Dolly Parton Wants to Record a Dance Record, Has Songs for Gay Community

By Annie Reuter

Dolly Parton just wrapped up her Blue Smoke World Tour last night (July 14) and while she might be enjoying some time off she’s far from taking a complete halt at producing new music. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

During a press conference last week, Parton spoke of her connection with the gay community and how she plans to celebrate them in the future.

“At some point I would like to do a dance record and I have several songs that are very positive towards the gay community,” Parton told reporters. “I have a song called ‘Just A Wee Bit Gay.’ It’s a great little dance tune, it’s funny and it’s got a lot of comic in it.”

Parton said while there isn’t a specific song or album of hers that the gay community has connected with, she often writes with those fans in mind.

“I do write a lot of songs along those lines with people that are different and unusual and people that are just themselves,” she said. “I have a lot of good, positive uplifting songs and hopefully they can all get out there.”
