A new TV singing competition has revealed its host and judging panel ahead of its premiere next month.

According to a release, Rising Star will feature a hodgepodge of judges from different musical genres spanning country to hip-hop. Brad Paisley will represent the country demographic, while Ke$ha and Ludacris showcase an understanding of pop and rap, respectively.

Easy listening star Josh Groban will act as the show’s host.

Rising Star expands on the premise of like-minded singing competitions like American Idol and The Voice, with a twist: rather than the public votes being tallied and announced the next episode, viewers will have the final say on the performers in real time, allowing for results to be revealed quicker than ever before.

Particularly, singers will also be able to see the voting results as they perform; since the voting is performing via an app, the tallies need to reach a certain threshold before the performer can move on or not, eliminating the pressure of waiting for a final result until 24 hours after a performance.
