Johnny Cash‘s posthumous Out Among the Stars, released March 25, has debuted at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums Chart. It also reached No. 3 on Billboard‘s all-genre Top 200 Albums Chart.

The album was recorded in 1981 and 1984 at Columbia Studios and 1111 Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. It was produced by Billy Sherrill, known for the “countrypolitan” sound and his work with such legends as Tammy Wynette and Charlie Rich. Out Among the Stars includes duets with June Carter Cash and Waylon Jennings and features such players as Marty Stuart, Jerry Kennedy, Pete Drake, Hargus “Pig” Robbins and Henry Strzelecki.

Out Among the Stars won’t be the last music release we’ll get from Cash. His son, John Carter Cash, says there are still “four or five” unheard albums left.

“There may be three or four albums worth of American Recordings stuff,” he explained
