Perhaps taking a page out of Jason Aldean’s playbook, country superstar Luke Bryan chose to hold a press conference to announce summer dates and some of the supersized venues he’ll be visiting during the second leg of his 2014 That’s My Kind of Night Tour.

And in truth, this isn’t just any summer tour. This time, the currently reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year is taking a huge step forward and hitting some of the biggest venues he’s ever played, including a handful of stadiums. These include stadium stops in Pittsburgh (June 21), Philadelphia (Aug. 15) and Chicago (Aug. 31) and an end-of-tour final show (Oct. 25) at the Hollywood Bowl in California. As with the first leg of the tour, Lee Brice and Cole Swindell will be along for the ride as opening acts. In addition, Dierks Bentley (“one of the best people in the whole world,” said Bryan) will perform during the stadium shows in Pittsburgh and Chicago.

During the press conference, which streamed live from the stage of Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, the “Drink a Beer” singer was beaming — this is, after all, a huge step up for him in terms of venue size. Last year’s Dirt Road Diaries Tour put him in front of the biggest crowds of his career so far — and he sold out every date, which means the demand was there. And late last year he announced the first set of dates on his 2014 That’s My Kind of Night Tour, which kicks off Jan. 16 in Columbus, Ohio and includes two dates at Madison Square Garden. All those dates have sold out as well. So it’s only logical that he would step up his game and try some even larger venues.

“The dream has been there for years,” Bryan said during the press conference, regarding playing stadiums. “And since it started, it’s been all about growing it gradually until the point when you feel you can go after it.”

In addition to his touring schedule, Bryan and Blake Shelton are again cohosting the ACM Awards, which take place Sunday, April 6 in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on CBS.
