Fish’s Top 10 Country Songs of 2013
2013 was a great year for Country music, and I am very happy to say that I work in the Country genre. The Country format has never been bigger than it is right now, and so there were a lot of great songs to choose from (this was definitely NOT an easy decision!)
Side note: what an awesome year for concerts in Minnesota, my favorites were Kenny Chesney at Target Field and Blake Shelton at the Xcel Energy Center.
Without further ado: here are my 10 favorite Country songs of 2013!
10. Colt Ford & Jason Aldean – Drivin’ Around Song
Living in a small town (Gibbon, MN) while growing up, I can totally relate to this song as my buddies and I would literally just drive around because we had nothing better to do.
9. Lee Brice – I Drive Your Truck
This is a very powerful song and it really grabs you and makes you feel the emotions of the story being told.
8. The Band Perry – Done
I’m a huge fan of The Band Perry and they just keep crankin’ out the hits! This one is especially upbeat and fun and I find myself singing along every time I hear it.
7. Eric Paslay – Friday Night
This is one of those songs that I liked the very first time I listened to it. It instantly puts me in a good mood, thinking about kicking back and having a good time when the weekend arrives!
6. Thomas Rhett – It Goes Like This
I mainly like this one because I get to sing “ooooohhhhh” and “heeeeeyyyyy” every time I hear it.
5. Eli Young Band – Drunk Last Night
We’ve all been there; had a few too many and you start texting or calling someone you know you shouldn’t. The worst part is the next morning when you realize what you’ve done.
4. Luke Bryan – Drink A Beer
When I saw the title for this song, I was expecting something completely different. This is a very touching song in which I can relate to having lost both of my parents at a young age. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for what Luke has gone through with his siblings and this song always grabs my attention when I hear it.
3. Luke Bryan – That’s My Kind Of Night
On the other hand, this Luke song is just a fun, catchy, toe tappin’ kind of song that you can’t help but crank up when you hear it. I know it’s a bit corny and cliché but you need songs like that every once in a while. Not every song is going to blow you away lyrically but you just gotta enjoy the ride and have fun sometimes, after all, isn’t that what Country music is all about?
2. David Nail – Whatever She’s Got
It’s catchy, it’s fun, it’s one of those songs that you can play at a party and get the ladies dancing instantly!
1. Blake Shelton – Boys Round Here
We were the first station in the Country to play this song and I instantly loved it. To make it even better, I saw Blake at the Excel Energy Center back in September and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen. Good memories!
