This morning, the Recording Academy announced that songwriting legend and Country Music Hall of Fame member Kris Kristofferson would be among the recipients of this year’s GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Also getting the honor: the Isley Brothers, German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk, New Orleans zydeco legend Clifton Chenier, Mexican composer Armando Manzanero, American violinist Maud Powell, and a little group you may have heard of called the Beatles. All artists will be honored during an invitation-only ceremony on Jan. 25, 2014 and then acknowledged during the GRAMMY Awards ceremony itself, which takes place on Sunday, Jan. 26.

In fact, it’s looking to be a big GRAMMY week for the Fab Four. The night after the GRAMMYs, The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute To The Beatles will be pre-recorded for broadcast February 9, which is exactly 50 years to the day from their first ever appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Kristofferson is also scheduled to perform at the 16th Annual GRAMMY Foundation Legacy Concert on Jan. 23, 2014 in Los Angeles. He’ll be joined by fellow GRAMMY winners Steve Cropper, Joy Williams of the Civil Wars, Paul Williams, and Dan Wilson as well as GRAMMY-nominated songwriters Skylar Grey, John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Allen Shamblin, and J.D. Souther.

The Lifetime Achievement Award “honors performers who have made contributions of outstanding artistic significance to the field of recording” and serves as a hall of fame of sorts, covering all genres of music. Past honorees include the Allman Brothers Band, Ravi Shankar, Diana Ross and Loretta Lynn.
