Keith Urban is a well-known guitar aficionado, having shared the stage with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and John Mayer, at Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival at Madison Square Garden earlier this year. Now, he’s making his own guitars available to the public with his new guitar collection.
“I’ve watched some of the greatest guitarists in the world perform and I’ve seen people just learning how to play,” he said on his website. “The looks on their faces are almost always the same and the connection with the instrument is genuine.”
The “We Were Us” singer has joined forces with HSN to offer an affordable line of guitars to fans and aspiring musicians. The URBAN Guitar Collection includes two one-hour instructional DVDs and his first custom created, limited-edition acoustic and electric guitar line. The line will be for sale exclusively on HSN starting November 3.
The URBAN Collection features two versions of the “Phoenix Edition” guitar – electric and acoustic/electric – and will be available in multiple colors. Part of a 21-piece set, the collection includes a custom amplifier, coated guitar strings, embroidered guitar strap, guitar picks and more. A portion of the proceeds of Urban’s collection will go to Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and The Grammy Foundation.
“I just love Miranda’s voice. I love her artistry. We did some shows together many years ago. She got up and did a song with me each night, and I loved our voices together,” he said.
“So, in the back of my mind I’ve always hoped I could find a song that we could do. The song ‘We Were Us’ came along, and it’s not the kind of song Miranda would normally do, but her voice is the first one I heard in my head. I called her up and sent her the song, and she loved it and came to the studio. Blake [Shelton] came along as well and hung out for the day. I’m just so happy at the way it turned out.”
