Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry is definitely not “DONE.” In fact, she’s just getting started on her new life with Toronto Blue Jays catcher J.P. Arencibia.
It was a dream come true for Perry, whose 15-acre family home in Greeneville, Tenn. filled with large oak trees held the magical spot where she once said, “if I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.”
Arencibia and Perry are both Nashville residents and met on Monday night at Perry’s family home to go to what she thought was just an ordinary family dinner. When she saw Arencibia standing under the tree of her wedding dreams, Perry knew the night was far from ordinary. “I saw that and I thought, ‘This is really happening,’” she tells the Tennessean.
But before Arencibia was able to pop the question, Perry’s mom sent her back in the house to change into her favorite pink dress – the one that she had always talked about wanting to wear if she ever got engaged. When Perry got to her room she found the dress, a bracelet her grandfather had given her grandmother “way back in the day” and a letter from her family.
“I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” she said. “I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”
“I’ve never felt that with anyone before,” Perry says of Arencibia. “He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.”
Kimbery Perry and J.P. Arencibia plan to wed next summer.
