Kacey Musgraves To Perform During Katy Perry’s ‘We Can Survive’ Benefit
Katy Perry is headlining a special “We Can Survive” charity concert at the Hollywood Bowl this October, benefitting the Young Survival Coalition, a group that supports and helps empower young women who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. Perry has invited some of her favorite artists to perform on the bill with her, too, and the list includes country artist Kacey Musgraves.
“It’s such a great cause,” and it’ll also be “a really amazing day of music,” Musgraves told Riverside, Calif. station KFRG during an interview this morning. “It’s a cool thing to be part of.”
“These are all very powerful women that I really respect and look up to,” said Perry, who spoke with Carson Daly this morning on L.A.’s 97.1 AMP. “I wanted them to come together to promote this supportive message and have a fantastic night full of great music. There’s so many great acts in this lineup.”
As Musgraves explained to KFRG, she’s not only going to share the stage with Perry, but the two have actually written together. “I’ve had the pleasure of going in the studio with her and kicking some stuff around. It was so much fun.” She doesn’t think any of the songs will show up on Perry’s upcoming CD Prism, but admit that “down the road” fans may get to hear something. “We wrote a really great song,” Musgraves said, and “there’s no telling what we could do with it.”
Tickets for “We Can Survive” go on sale Friday, Sept. 27 at 10am PT (1pm ET) through Ticketmaster. Pre-sale for Citi Thank You card-members begins on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 10 am PT (1pm ET), including VIP packages with exclusive access to Katy’s pre-concert soundcheck.
Proceeds from “We Can Survive” will go to support Young Survival Coalition, the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. October marks National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual campaign to bring attention to, and share information on the disease.
