Casey James Thinks ‘American Idol’ Would Pick Carrie Underwood Or Kelly Clarkson As Judges
Rumors are floating “American Idol” could bring back contestants to serve as judges, but season nine finalist Casey James isn’t expecting the call to come anytime soon — and said he probably wouldn’t accept if they did ask him to judge wannabe performers.
“I think it would make it really, really tough for me to tour and do what it is I love doing, so I don’t know that that would work out for me,” James said, adding, “If they were ever going to ask anybody, I’m sure it would be somebody who had massive success like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, if I had to just guess randomly.”
James, known during his time on “Idol” for his guitar work, and his flowing blonde locks, discussed both in a chat with WYCD”s Jack Shell before he headlined the second stage Sunday at Detroit’s Downtown Hoedown.
So, how does he make his hair so lustrous?
“Don’t wash it, that’ what you want to tell the girls,” he said. “You know what’s funny is I did just wash it, but normally I go 10 days, 11 days, it’s actually, it looks a lot better when you don’t wash it.”
On his guitar skills, he listed his favorite guitar players as Stevie Ray Vaughn, Steve Gaines from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimmy Paige – adding someone to the list who’s not often chosen as a top-ranked guitar player.
“Lindsay Buckingham, he did a lot of finger picking and I really dig that, incorporating that into rock and roll, I think is a very cool move,” James said.
What’s next for James? He said he’s going into the studio Monday to lay down some new tracks.
“Touring, live show, and working on the record, that’s where my mind’s at,” James said.
