Gloriana Talks Touring With Alan Jackson
Country trio Gloriana has been spending time on the road this spring opening shows for Alan Jackson. Recently they stopped by Radio.com to fill us in on what fans can expect from their live show–and what they’ve learned opening for someone of Jackson’s stature.
The three members of Gloriana–Rachel Reinert and brothers Tom and Mike Gossin–join Jackson again this weekend for two shows in Florida and Georgia. And they all rave about their tourmate.
Jackson is “absolutely amazing,” Reinert said. “Being able to play in front of his crowd is a huge honor for us. To get to stand side stage and watch him do his thing every night, he’s such a legend. It’s great to be a part of that.”
Reinert explained that, whether they’re opening for Jackson or playing their own headlining gigs, their sets are a mix of songs from their debut 2009 release as well as their latest album, A Thousand Miles Left Behind.
“We’re always constantly changing and trying to improve,” she said. “We’re a live band, we love touring and playing with our fans. We don’t know who we are without it.”
Tom Gossin joked that he learned that Gloriana needs to have as many No. 1′s as Jackson does.
“The guy has a helicopter, a plane, and a bus that waits for him at the gig, and then he goes home every night after the show,” he said. “The only hard part about being on tour is that you miss your family and you miss your loved ones. He gets to go home every single night after the show, and that makes me very motivated to reach that level.”
In the end, though, the Gloriana bandmates agree that Jackson’s level of success is all because of his songs.
“His music really speaks truth and honesty, and it really connects with the audience. And even just standing side stage and watching him do his thing, his presence is very overwhelming,” Reinert added. “He doesn’t even have to try that hard. He just smiles that smile and does what he does, and you’re just overwhelmed by how amazing that is.”
