Keith Urban had a dream ‘rock star moment’ this past weekend. When the Rolling Stones kicked off their 50 and Counting tour at the Staples Center in L.A. on Friday (May 3), the country star was invited on stage with the Stones to perform “Respectable,” a song from their classic 1978 album Some Girls.
Keith was obviously thrilled, sent a tweet out before the show that gavei a heads up to his fans.
During the nearly two-and-a-half hour show, Keith stepped on stage during “Respectable” to trade “blistering guitar licks” with Keith Richards and Ron Wood. He also sang on the chorus with Mick Jagger.
Urban’s appearance shouldn’t be too much of a surprise, as the Rolling Stones are longtime fans of country music. Last week, in fact, Keith Richards published a heartfelt statement in the wake of the death of country legend George Jones.
“He was pure American music without ever waving a flag,” Richards wrote. “He possessed the most touching voice, the most expressive ways of projecting that beautiful instrument of anyone I can call to mind. You heard his heart in every note he sang.”
