While the ACM Awards are just mere days away (they’re April 7 at 8pm on CBS, by the way), we’re already anticipating another year of memorable and amazing performances from some of the biggest stars in country music. Performers we can expect to rock the stage this year include Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton, Eric Church, Taylor Swift, The Band Perry and so many more.
Though we can’t judge how great the 48th ACM Awards performances will be, we can look back at past years of the highly anticipated awards show and find some great on-stage moments from country’s biggest names.
Brad Paisley & Alabama perform “Old Alabama”
Not only did Brad hit the stage with country legends Alabama to perform his hit song, he also walked away from the 2011 ACM Awards with the Top Male Vocalist title.
Zac Brown Band & James Taylor perform “Colder Weather / Sweet Baby James”
Not only is Zac Brown Band already a phenomenal performer, but with help from one of the most famous musicians of all time, the medley of both artists’ hits made this 2011 performance one of the most memorable.
Miranda Lambert performs “Over You”
This heartfelt song, written by Blake Shelton, brings out emotions in Miranda that was undeniable as she performed this chilling hit during the 2012 ACM Awards.
Carrie Underwood performs “Good Girl”
Carrie’s comeback single “Good Girl” was such a massive success for the former American Idol winner, that she exuded sassiness and pure fire as she performed at the 2012 ACM Awards. Carrie is up for Top Female Vocalist at this year’s awards show.
Keith Urban “For You”
This song was written as a feature for the military themed movie “Act Of Valor” and Keith made sure to support the armed forces with this performance of the hit.
Darius Rucker performs “Music From The Heart”
At the 46th ACM Awards, Darius Rucker took the stage to perform “Music From The Heart” with a twist: he asked for help from 23 music fans with functional disabilities.
Taylor Swift performs “Tim McGraw”
While Taylor Swift was just making her way to the music scene, she had a chance to perform her single “Tim McGraw” live on the 2007 ACM Awards and made it memorable with a pretty fun ending… she introduced herself to the real Tim McGraw for the first time.
Ronnie Dunn performs his first solo single “Bleed Red”
When Brooks & Dunn split, the country world was understandably upset, but thankfully Ronnie Dunn came back with this widely popular single “Bleed Red” which he performed at the 2011 ACM Awards.
Toby Keith performs “Red Solo Cup”
Okay, you might be tired of this song but there’s no denying this party-centric, crowd filled performance didn’t get your boots tapping during last year’s ACM Awards.
Martina McBride & Train’s Pat Monahan perform “Marry Me”
True to its title, this ACM Awards performance pulled the heart strings of everyone watching when the two stars sang to an actual couple getting married on stage.
