Hunter Hayes has a lot to celebrate. On the heels of his second No. 1 single “Somebody’s Heartbreak,” Hayes will premiere his new song “I Want Crazy” this Sunday at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
The song is off the upcoming deluxe edition of his self-titled debut, Hunter Hayes (Encore), which is set for release June 18.
Hayes is up for six awards at this year’s ACM Awards, airing April 7 on CBS, including New Male Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year for “Wanted.”
The singer spoke with Radio.com and explained the story behind the powerful ballad.
“‘Wanted’ is very much a love letter. It was written basically just to tell a girl how I felt about her,” Hunter explained. “It didn’t actually work but I’m okay with that. I got my single, I got my song and I’m okay with that.”
Hayes’ new deluxe album Hunter Hayes (Encore), which features seven new and re-recorded songs including “I Want Crazy,” is due out June 18.
