Last week, country music trio the Pistol Annies announced the May 7 release date for their second album, Annie Up.

For the album cover, though, the three bandmates (Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley) chose to release it to fans via Twitter–and not just any old tweet, but using Twitter’s brand-new video technology, called Vine, which allows users to embed small videos inside individual tweets.

Annie Up is the follow-up to their popular debut album Hell on Heels. The Annies also have a new single, the lively, sassy “Hush, Hush.”

“It’s about the truth. The truth is so much easier than lie on top of lie on top of secrets,” Angaleena said about the song on the Annies’ website. “The truth will set you free.”

Ashley Monroe recently told Radio.com about the experience of recording and writing with her fellow bandmates.

“It’s very special,” she explained. “I feel like a lot of the songs were gifts given to us. We wrote a lot of it on the road and it’s hard to write on the road. When we’re together, there’s just something that happens. When we write, when we’re on stage, when we’re hanging out – there’s just a buzz.”

“We sat and listened to it at the studio when it was finished, and all three of us were bawling hysterically.”

Annie Up hits stores on May 7.
