George Strait is in the midst of his Cowboy Rides Away Tour, and has a hot radio single (“Give It All We Got Tonight”) driving its way up the charts. But that hasn’t stopped him from getting a brand new album recorded and ready to hit stores.

The new album is titled Love Is Everything, and it’s been given a release date of May 14.

Though George is retiring from big concert tours, he has always remained clear that he will continue to record.

As George told Radio.com last fall, the country landscape is “definitely a little different now–and I don’t mean that in a bad way–but hopefully I’ll still have a place somewhere. And I’m gonna keep believing that, because I want to keep making records.”

George has been recording and performing since the early 1980s, which means his career is into its fourth decade. And where many artists from his era have not had much chart success lately, George is still going strong on country radio. In fact, there’s an active campaign called Sixty For Sixty that is pushing for George’s latest single, “Give It All We Got Tonight,” to become his 60th Number One single while George is still 60 years old (he turns 61 on May 18).

So what’s the secret? As George explained to Radio.com, it’s all about “finding the right songs.” Which, as he explains, are “good songs that you think will fit you. That’s what I’ve done all these years, is just try to find the best songs that I felt like I could sing that fit me, my personality and my beliefs.”

George Strait’s Cowboy Rides Away Tour (featuring Martina McBridecontinues through June. It then picks up again for its final leg in 2014.

George is also among the performers announced for the 48thAcademy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 7.
