Who Will Cohost The ACM Awards With Blake Shelton This Year?

Blake Shelton is looking for someone to cohost the 48th annual Academy of Country Music Awards with him this spring.

With a full slate of projects and a new television show, Reba McEntire announced last fall that she was stepping down as ACM cohost. She’d hosted or cohosted the award show 14 times, two of them alongside Blake.

“Those are big shoes to fill,” says Blake Shelton in a promotional video released by the Academy. “And I didn’t want to do this thing by myself.”

He then goes on to talk about how they had to “set the bar a little bit lower” as the search dragged on. And while the person they ultimately chose is, he says, a “fan favorite,” they’re also apparently somewhat of a threat to Blake’s career. That’s why, he says, he’s “hoping to use this opportunity to completely disrupt and derail this person’s career.”

He’s joking, of course. (Right?)

So yes, Blake knows who is going to be taking Reba’s place. But he is not ready to reveal it to the public–at least, without jumping through a few hoops first.

How do fans find out? Visit ACMCountry.com for details on how to help reveal Blake’s cohost (hint: it involves Twitter).

The reveal will also let you learn the date for the award show, which has yet to be announced (last year the ACM awards took place on Sunday, April 1).

And as Blake says at the end of the ACM video, don’t hold it against him when you find out the name of the cohost. “It’s desperate times,” he says, “and I had to take what I could get.”
