It’s a good year to be Taylor Swift, Rihanna, or Britney Spears.
Each of these music stars will have no problems buying Christmas presents for all their friends and family, because according to Forbes magazine, they are the top-earning female musicians of 2012.
Britney topped the list, bringing home a whopping $58 million thanks to her Femme Fatale album, tour, fragrances, and endorsement deals. We’re guessing that $18 million X Factor gig didn’t hurt either!
Taylor Swift follows closely behind with $57 million. Most of her earnings come from touring; Forbes estimates she grossed $1 million per night. The multiple GRAMMY winner (and 2012 nominee) also has major deals with Cover Girl and Sony. Expect her to add upon this with sales from her latest album Red, which stands as the highest debut of any artist thus far in 2012.
Rihanna came in third place with a respectable $53 million. Forbes says RiRi’s fortune comes from her non-stop touring, string of massive hit songs, Reb’l Fleur perfume, and endorsements with Vita Coco and Nivea.
A previously published Forbes list showed that, when you add the men and women musicians together, Taylor Swift actually ties Paul McCartney for eighth place. Two other country artists make that list’s Top 20, and the top spot goes to Dr. Dre.
