Thanks to Leanne Stevens! This week’s Salute is going out to multiple soldiers in her life.
First to my sister Retired Colonial Laura Ludwig. She has seen more in her many many deployments, more than anyone can imagine along with seeing her nephew, my son, come through from Afghanistan in stable but serious condition.
Second to my Son, CPL Zacery Blaisdell, wounded on 9-1-2010 one month after turning 20 in Afghanistan. He still has hopes and dreams after all he has been through. Recovery is still going strong, he comes from good stock.
Third is my daughter, SPC Tori Blaisdell, she left her son at age 3 for her 1 year deployment to Kuwait. She made the best of it and continues in the MN Army National Guard PROUDLY.
Fourth is my Step Son, SGT Casey Stevens, he was our first child to deploy. Came home on leave from Kuwait for the birth of his first child Izzy and had to leave to finish his deployment and he too continues to PROUDLY serve in the MN Army National Guard.
Fifth is Matt Monjes and James Krieman. Matt and James are with the 133rd Airlift and our neighbors. Matt met Zac to bring him from Andrews AFB to Walter Reed.
Last is our newest member, Spc Thomas Cooper of the Oklahoma National Guard, soon to be my son-in-law. He and Tori met while on deployment and friendship became strong and will be married next year.
As I re-read my email, tears come to my eyes as I know the sacrifice they all have made. WE ARE ARMY STRONG!!!
