According to Barry Gibb, his opportunity to play live at the Grand Ole Opry last weekend was something he has “dreamed of”since he was a boy.

The cofounder of the Bee Gees (with his late brothers, Maurice and Robin) appeared on the Opry stage last weekend, where he was joined by such country stalwarts as Ricky SkaggsJames Otto, Dailey & Vincent, and Darryl Worley.

During his introduction, Skaggs talked about his admiration for Gibb–and noted that Gibb even wrote a song for his new record, telling him: “If you like it, cut it!”

When Gibb took the stage, he spoke of his honor at playing the famous hall. “This is the center of the universe musically,” he said, “and I couldn’t be prouder.”

Accompanied by Ricky Skaggs and his band Country Thunder, Gibb played three songs during his appearance. Two were from the Bee Gees catalog, and the third was an old Civil War song, “When the Roses Bloom Again” (it may be an “old song” but, as Gibb says, “it’s truly appropriate for the present…the message is very spiritual, and I love it”). You can watch each one of the performances below.

“When the Roses Bloom Again”:

“To Love Somebody”:

“How Can You Mend a Broken Heart” (Barry sends this out to his 93-year-old mother):
