In a new video posted on their website, the members of the Zac Brown Band talk about the story behind “The Wind,” the band’s high-octane, bluegrass-infused, fun-loving new single from their upcoming new album, Uncaged.
“‘The Wind’ is our homage to bluegrass music but played as a rock and roll band,” says ZBB member Clay Cook.
The video is titled Uncaged Episode 1: The Wind, the first in a series of ‘behind-the-scenes’ type clips that the band is unveiling in the lead-up to the release of Uncaged on July 10.
Zac himself calls the song a “barn burner,” a description that Coy Bowles then has some fun with–and raises a good point. “I don’t know if anybody knows what that ['barn burner'] means…but everybody knows what it means.”
“It’s just really fast,” says Cook.
Zac says that “The Wind” is “probably the most ‘country’ song we’ve ever done.” And while bluegrass isn’t a sound you hear much on country radio, it is a part of the Zac Brown Band’s DNA. “Bluegrass fits dead center for me,” Brown said in an interview this past spring with CBS Detroit station WYCD.
Uncaged is set for release July 10. Check out the Zac Brown Band’s Web store for some unique Southern Ground album bundles that include deluxe CDs, T-shirts, prints, and more.
