BamaJam, the annual country music festival held near Enterprise, Alabama, kicked off its 2012 edition yesterday. But as AL.com reports, a strong storm that included heavy rain, hail, and high winds (which reached nearly 60 mph) caused the performances experienced a four-hour delay yesterday afternoon. The grounds were evacuated around 4:30pm, and fans were sent to wait it out in their cars and campers.

Some vendors experienced damage, and the field in front of the main stage turned to mud. Thankfully no one, the Dothan Eagle reports, was seriously hurt.

After several hours of safety checks and clean-up, word spread that the music would resume. The gates finally reopened at about 9pm, and the fans poured back in.

Eric Church took the stage at 11pm, and Thursday night headliner Tim McGraw started his set around midnight.

Some scheduled acts, however, were not able to perform, including country legend Willie Nelson, THE FARM, and christian rock band Third Day.

BamaJam continues today and Saturday (June 15 and 16), with a lineup that includes Zac Brown Band, Kid Rock, Stryper, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Uncle Kracker, and Sheryl Crow.
