It’s been a big week for Luke Bryan. In fact, it’s been a great year. After scoring two platinum singles with “I Don’t Want This Night To End” and “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, Bryan completed the platinum trifecta with his latest single “Drunk On You”.
Just this past week, Bryan made an appearance on the CMT Music Awards, getting attention not only from the impressive performance of his newly platinum single “Drunk On You,” but his obvious excitement every time his friends won a coveted CMT belt buckle.
But the night wasn’t complete until Bryan all but skipped onto the CMT stage to accept his award for Male Video of the Year (for “I Don’t Want This Night To End”).
While most country stars would thank their producers, family and supporters, Bryan’s focus was a little more amusing. “This is my second CMT buckle,” Bryan said to the audience. “The first time I threw out a jacket in the crowd. I found out it was a very expensive jacket. I thought I’d potentially one day throw something a little cheaper. I have a lucky charm.” While most people racked their brains on what jewel it could be, everyone was taken back by his next sentence. “I have some lucky camouflage underwear. Tom [Arnold], would you like to do the honors?”
Obviously, Luke’s excitement was still reeling from the recent news of his platinum single. Joining the ranks of Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean, he is the third country star to release three consecutive platinum-selling singles from the same album (in Luke’s case, Tailgates & Tanlines).
Luke Bryan will be hitting the road with Jason Aldean in July–check out the tour dates.
