Zac Brown Band is serving up a new album, Uncaged, this summer on July 10.
And that’s not all that’s on Zac’s menu. During a conversation with the Dr. Don Morning Show from Detroit station WYCD, Zac talked about new happenings as he readies for the album and possible upcoming tour.
For starters, Zac recounted his blessings. “Every time we go out on the road, we come back home and go right back to the bottom of the food chain — slinging diapers, taking care of babies, working on businesses, doing everything we’re doing. Every time we go out, we pinch ourselves — I mean every single time, I never get used to it.”
In case you haven’t heard, Zac Brown and his bandmates are also pretty good behind a grill, stove, open fire… these boys can cook! For those with a Southern culinary flair, you will find a section of zacbrownband.com dedicated to cooking, complete with recipes and the ZBB Southern Ground Cook Book, a variety of rubs and spices and even a special apron! The Zac Brown Band even takes it up a notch and turned the traditional “Meet and Greet” for fans, into an “Eat and Greet!” Zac says that their latest dish is something that they have been working on for quite some time. “We’ve been trying to perfect the art of ‘Hot Water Cornbread.’ This Hot Water Cornbread is the next level, we’ve put some Palmetto Cheese on the Hot Water Cornbread.”
With all of the great recipes and innovative ideas for the food business, it shouldn’t be a shock to anyone that the Zac Brown Band would follow in the steps of other country artists opening a restaurant. Toby Keith has a successful line of restaurants open across the country, and Rascal Flatts has also started a restaurant in their hometown of Columbus Ohio.
Zac says that soon he, too, will have a small restaurant to showcase his good eats. “I’ve actually got a little restaurant that’s gonna open in Senoia, Georgia in about a month from now, so we’ve been working on the menu, a super-simple menu for that.”
When asked if his new-found recipe of Hot Water Cornbread will make the menu, Zac says, “That’s one of the specialties, one of the vessels to carry the flavor that we’ve been doing in this Hot Water Cornbread.”
