Metallica is starting up their own music festival and Eric Church is taking part in the inaugural event. The Orion Music + More festival reflects each of Metallica’s band members’ personal interests. Eric joins the list of 30 bands covering all genres of music from punk to country. Other artists featured at the festival are Arctic Monkeys, Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, The Gaslight Anthem, Cage The Elephant, F***ed Up, Best Coast, Hot Snakes, Titus Andronicus, Gary Clark Jr., Lucero, Roky Erickson, The Black Angels, The Sword, Liturgy, and more.
This isn’t the first time he has taken part in festival where he was the only country act. Back in 2009, he performed at Lollapalooza, which was headlined by Depeche Mode, Tool, and The Killers. This festival just gives Eric another opportunity to get his music in front of more fans. With this type of crowd, all he has to play is “Smoke A Little Smoke” and “Drink In My Hand” and he’ll have a slew of new followers.
Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich told Rolling Stone that they’ve “had the idea of doing our own lifestyle festival with lots of diverse music and fun and games for years. Finally this year, all the practical ducks lined up in a row, and we are beyond psyched to bring Orion to our fans, friends and the curious.”
Being a lifestyle festival, Orion Music + More festival also features a custom car and motorcycle show. Over 300 of the best customs, hot rods, muscle cars and custom motorcycles will be on display during the show.
The Orion Music + More festival is set for June 23rd and June 24th in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
