It’s always a good day when a ‘girl’ can beat Blake Shelton in something he prides himself in! In this case, it’s skeet shooting.
In our exclusive interview at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas, Cherrill Green of country trio Edens Edge talked about their experience at the NRA-sponsored ACM shooting event Saturday.
“It’s a good day so far, got up this morning and went to the skeet shoot, Blake Shelton hosts NRA country skeet shoot for ACMs each year. And I beat him! Didn’t care how I did overall, as long as I beat Blake!”
Host Steve Grunwald brought up a valid point. “Now you know he’d have been talking a lot of smack on Twitter if he’d have beat you!” (@blakeshelton)
But Cherrill was a couple steps ahead on that front, too. “I sent out a coupla tweets and kinda rubbed it in his face a little bit – ‘I thought you were a hunter’ – ‘You couldn’t even beat a girl’!”
So if you are stereotyping any member of Edens Edge, you would be way off the mark! As Cherrill explains, “That would be wrong – we’re all from Arkansas.”
Bandmember Hannah Blaylock also pipes in. “Cherrill has five guns in her apartment…gets me a lot of deer meat!”
Cherrill adds that “Hannah’s a barrel racer, y’all wouldn’t know that either, we all grew up in the country!”
Hannah responds, “We like gettin’ dirty!”
Edens Edge has a new single coming out soon, and “we hope y’all like it,” it’s “Too Good To Be True.” On top of that they start their tour with Rascal Flatts on June 15, and three days prior they will be releasing their debut album on Big Machine Records!
