Clay Walker’s hands were freezing as he took a minute to talk with fans and then WYCD’s Jack Shell, outside the Royal Oak Music Theater before hitting the stage for the Ten Man Jam.

It’s something on everyone’s minds this week — the death of legendary singer [mp3com-artist]Whitney Houston[/mp3com-artist].  Shell asked Walker how he and other recording artists are reacting to the passing of such a star.

“Who are we to say anything, except, you know, her family hurts and I hurt with them and for them. To them it was devastating and for us it was just astounding that it happened. It was hard for us to fathom.”

“… and I also know that we’ll see Whitney on the other side. I’m a strong believer that we do have an afterlife and I believe that Whitney was a good human being. Obviously some of the choices we all make are mistakes and we ask forgiveness for those.”

“Who knows what happened in Whitney’s final hour and final minutes …but I know she was a believer and she’s safe in the arms of her God,” Walker said.
